Duly Noted: “God grant me the serenity…”

This started as an entry into my Gratitude journal, but two paragraphs later, I figured it was a bit much for a bullet point….
I’m really grateful for not dwelling the way I used to.
Before, when I felt rejected, that I couldn’t get what I wanted, or as if things were bothersome, I would dwell on why couldn’t things be the way I wanted. Lately though, I’ve found I am (much more) able (than before,) to accept things I cannot change, and be open to the possibilities of what may be.
I seem to hear the most popularly cited portion of the Serenity Prayer in the back of my mind:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
See the full length Serenity Prayer
To me, that’s so powerful hearing & reading it again. How much more freed up and happy would our lives be if we would accept the things we cant control, had enough courage to face and conquer the things we could, and had just enough wisdom to discern between the two?
What do you hold on to that you reall have no real say in?
What opportunities are wrapped in your more-than-surmountable obstacle?
How do you decipher between “I should” and “find serenity within it?”
I guess I hear old pastors and patrons in the church that would always tell me, “what’s for you is or you, and no one else.”
Duly Noted.
